Nyack has just released its Sustainable Nyack Action Plan 2015-2016, a two-year agenda for reducing energy use and green house gas emissions, increasing recycling, managing the landscape better and growing support for sustainability and climate change adaptation throughout the community.
The Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) has awarded Nyack $206,000 support 75 of the project cost of a Sustainability Update to its Comprehensive Master Plan through NYSERDA’s Cleaner, Greener Communities Program. See the press release here!
The Village of Nyack Sustainability Desk keeps the village focused on opportunities for improving environmental quality in Nyack and working towards the goal of balancing equity, economy and environment in all decision-making.
The Sustainability Coordinator and the Green Policy Task Force are developing a comprehensive action plan for incorporating sustainability into all aspects of village operations and community life. The Task Force includes citizen volunteers and Village staff that meet monthly to develop plans and projects in working groups:
