Nyack’s boil water alert remains in effect today for all Nyack Water customers. Water testing began this morning(August 13) as required by the Rockland County Board of Health. Testing could not begin until this morning because the system water levels were too low. The Rockland County Board of Health requires two sets of clean samples from the system prior to cancellation of the alert. Each sample must be tested with results recorded twenty four hours and forty eight hours after the sample is drawn. Because of this process, the boil water alert will not be lifted before Thursday August 16, 2012 at the earliest. The areas affected include Nyack, South Nyack, Central Nyack and a small Nyack Water Department portion of West Nyack. Please see the Village of Nyack’s website for additional information on how to properly use water during this alert.
