Superblock RFP Response - Urbanomics
Urbanomics is pleased to present this proposal for services to produce a series of feasibility
studies for the Village of Nyack’s mixed-use Performing Arts Superblock—a plan
that is certain to be the cornerstone of the Downtown’s revitalization. Performing arts
centers can be a catalyst for economic development, but whether the center sparks new
business or simply shifts revenues away from existing establishments is dependent on
careful planning and consideration of market demand, existing complementary and
competitive commercial conditions and community desires. The Urbanomics team’s
comprehensive approach to assessing feasibility will provide a set of parameters the
Village can use in preparing an RFP for the development of the Superblock site that will
ensure that the character of the Downtown will be enhanced and revitalized instead of
simply redeveloped.
Urbanomics is a WBE/DBE economic analysis firm with more than 25 years of experience
preparing market analyses and feasibility studies, demographic and employment
forecasts and economic development strategies. We have a broad range of clients and
project types, from preparing the official regional socioeconomic forecasts for the New
York Metropolitan Transportation Council, to assessing the feasibility of a proposed
“lifestyle” development and the impacts on the existing downtown of Hyde Park.
Urbanomics will be joined by Cathy Lanier, a regionally renown cultural economist who
has specialized in the arts for the past 15 years, having worked with The Broadway
League, Dia Beacon and the Alliance for the Arts to prepare the Cultural Arts Analysis;
Mark Strauss and John Loughran of FXFowle, an award winning architectural, planning
and design firm to prepare the Land Use, Design and Bulk Assessments; and Georges
Jacquemart of BFJ Planning to prepare the Parking and Traffic analyses.
We are confident that if-- as noted in the RFP-- additional studies are required, the
depth of expertise on our team and their respective resources will be able to respond
thoroughly to the demand.
