FEMA GATHERING INFORMATION TO DETERMINE
ROCKLAND’S DISASTER RELIEF FROM HURRICANE IRENE
Nyack residents and businesses urged to send
information on damages by Friday, September 2nd
NYACK, Sept. 1. In preparation for a FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) review of Rockland County, the Rockland County Office of Emergency Services is gathering information from all of Rockland’s towns and villages on damages sustained during Hurricane Irene. This information will be collected by all towns and villages, compiled in a central data base by the Rockland County Office of Fire and Emergency Services, and sent to FEMA for its determination as to how much emergency aid, if any, will be provided.
Emergency aid may be available to governments and/or individuals and/or businesses. When FEMA makes a final determination as to the eligibility of Rockland for a disaster declaration for individuals and businesses, the Office of Fire and Emergency Services will work with each jurisdiction to coordinate counseling, records, and filing for residents and businesses in the county that were affected by the Hurricane.
Businesses and individuals who suffered damage from Hurricane Irene and who would like their damages included in Nyack’s original estimate to the county should send the following information to Village Clerk Mary E. White at email@example.com no later than Friday, September 2nd at 5:00 P.M.:
- Your name
- the name of your contact person
- your address
- your phone number,
- the value of your land,
- the value of your structure
- the estimated value of your damages
- a very BRIEF (one sentence if possible) description of your damages.
Homeowners and business owners who are sending data to Ms. White should also send any photographs of damages to firstname.lastname@example.org and to clearly identify their location and name when doing so. They should also consult the Rockland County website http://www.co.rockland.ny.us/ and follow the appropriate links to obtain any other information that they may need.
