The Village of Nyack is looking for volunteers to serve on its 2011 Citizen Advisory Committee for the Community Development Block Grant Program.
The purpose of the Advisory Committee is to recommend to the Village Board the programs and/or projects for which the village should apply to the county’s Office of Community Development for CDBG funding. Awards will be announced early next year.
According to county guidelines, members of Nyack’s Citizen Advisory Committee must live within the village and should consist of representatives of the following groups: low income residents, minority residents, elderly residents, disabled residents, faith-based organizations, business groups, civic groups, and other interested persons
Nyack projects previously or currently funded by CDBG funds in full or in part include: restoration of the Nyack Center; the Nyack Center’s after-school computer program; handicap accessible bathrooms in Memorial Park; repairs to South Broadway; sidewalks in low to moderate income sections of the village (as defined by the Department of Housing and Urban Development); and other projects and/or programs in low-to-moderate income areas or that benefit elderly and/or disabled residents.
If you’re interested in joining this year’s CDBG Citizen Advisory Committee, please contact Chair Marilyn Kaskel email@example.com. The village must submit the names of its committee members to the county by October 1st.
