The Village obtained “hot mix” from New Jersey, and have been going through an intensive process of manually heating the hole to pack the asphalt, and using a “hot box” to keep it warm enough to bond correctly. This will be a more permanent solution thank cold patch.
The Village will also patch some roads technically responsible by the State.
Due to the cold weather and snow, the Village DPW has not been able to begin with the patch work until recently. Right after the string of snow removal, the DPW had to catch up with trash removal, and now has been able to direct its attention to road repair.
This has been a very difficult winter on the crew, and also on the Village budget. We are talking with the State for possible fiscal relief due to the unusually harsh winter.
