The Orangetown Police are investigating four incidents of arson and a string of car larcenies that they believe are related. The incidents occurred in the early hours of today in the neighborhoods of Summit Street, Jackson Avenue, Depew Avenue and Washington Street.
No one was injured but damage to property and vehicles was sustained. The Orangetown Police Detective Bureau is investigating the incidents and ask that anyone with any information contact them at 845-359-2121.
We, the Village Board, are hopeful that arrests will be made soon but do ask that all residents lock the doors to their vehicles at night. It is not only common sense under normal circumstances but, in this instance, unlocked car doors seem to be a common denominator in the crimes.
