Feb 4 — 10pm
For the second time in forty eight hours, the Village of Nyack is expected to experience storm weather conditions. Beginning this evening at around midnight the Village may see snow accumulations of up to ten inches. Weather reports also indicate that tomorrow afternoon serious icing will occur. We are hopeful that these conditions will not be as dire as the predictions but it is necessary for the Village to take the following precautions:
Please be advised that in an effort to clear snow accumulation on the the Village’s most narrow streets – First Avenue, Third Avenue, Marion Street & Jefferson Street – we will post orange signage indicating the restriction of all vehicle parking on those streets for snow removal. Vehicles must be removed from the affected areas by midnight tonight (February 5th) or they will be ticketed and when necessary for public safety, towed. The more vehicles removed from the street the faster cleanup can happen. There will be free parking in the entire Riverspace parking lot until the Village streets have been cleared. There will also be parking available on adjacent streets where normal parking regulations are in affect (they will not be posted with orange signs)
–You will be allowed to return to those streets listed above once we have completed the snow removal process.
Please DO NOT shovel or snowblow your snow into Village streets. It defeats the purpose of plowing and is dangerous for those cars who utilize your street before the plows can return to remove the snow.
It is very important that people travel only when absolutely necessary during storms. The Village DPW works continuously during these conditions but all residents should use their best judgment when choosing to travel.
Village Hall had a successful test of our new generator today and should there be power outages in the Village, the Hall will be open for residents use.
